What to Expect

At your consultation you will be given the time that is needed to listen to your concerns and aspirations. Mr Ng will provide you with an honest and professional opinion, based upon years of training and experience. An appropriate medical examination will be performed where necessary, including measurements and photography. This will form an important part of your comprehensive medical assessment. Not every person is suitable for surgery and you can be assured that you will be advised if you should wait a few years or consider other options.
Mr Ng will clearly explain any proposed treatment or operation, including any associated risks and limitations. You will be encouraged to ask questions and take time to consider the information and plan of care.
Following your consultation with Mr Ng, you will receive a detailed summary of any issues discussed and any proposed operations or treatments. A full estimate of any costs will also be included with this written information. The information will include a full explanation of any risks involved and pre and post operative instructions. It is important that you make an informed decision that is based on sound professional advice and not a sales pitch that creates unrealistic expectations. We would encourage you to take the time to make the decision that is right for you. If you have any further questions, we would be very happy to arrange further consultations, at no additional charge.
If you would like to proceed with treatment, please contact Sarah, our Patient Care Co-ordinator on 0207 580 4141. Every effort is made to accommodate your wishes and work around business and family commitments. A deposit is not required in order to secure a provisional booking, with all Surgical and Anaesthetic fees due in full three weeks prior to surgery.
You will receive detailed written information on how to prepare for your operation. If you are undergoing breast surgery you will also be provided with specific information on post operative bras. All other garments are included in your fees and will be arranged by our team. Our practice nurse will contact you a few days prior to surgery to check that you have all the information you require and to answer any questions you might have. It is very normal to feel nervous about your surgery and it is often helpful to discuss any queries or concerns.
If you are having a General Anaesthetic or Sedation, the Consultant Anaesthetist will wish to see you for a pre-operative assessment. Mr Ng will also see you prior to surgery and mark any areas of proposed treatment if necessary. Your safety is our primary concern and you will be cared for by a highly qualified professional team throughout your stay in hospital. Every effort is made to make you feel as relaxed and comfortable as possible, whilst ensuring high standards of patient care.
Immediately after your operation, you will be seen by Mr Ng either in the post-operative recovery suite or on the ward. You may still be sleepy at this point and may not remember this visit. Mr Ng will visit you again prior to your discharge home. We believe that it is important to take the time to assess your recovery and answer any questions that you may have prior to discharge home. If you are staying in hospital a few days, you will be seen on a daily basis. Our Practice nurse will also provide you with detailed post operative instructions to take home. If you are undergoing facial surgery, a member of the nursing team will wash your hair before you leave the hospital.
We provide a comprehensive aftercare service and are contactable day or night. Our practice nurse will keep in close contact by telephone whilst you are recovering at home. In addition you are welcome to contact us as often as you wish. You will usually be seen in the clinic at one week and one month postoperatively. However, if you have any questions or concerns, you will be seen more frequently than or as often as you wish. We aim to provide a highly personalised service, that is tailored to your individual needs. We do not rush post operative appointments and strive to make you feel safe and supported. |
